5 Best Football Gloves For Linemen – Latest

Linemen are often the first ones to get hurt in football.

Even though football has a reputation for being a rough sport, there are ways to keep yourself safe while playing. The gloves for football linemen are a great tool for them.

If you’re looking for lineman football gloves right now, you’re in luck. I’ve put together a list of the five that I think are the best on the market. We have a lot to talk about, so grab a drink and settle in.

1. Under Armour Men’s Combat V – Best Flexibility In Football Gloves For Linemen

  • Meets NFHS/NCAA/NOCSAE standards
  • All purpose padded glove, designed specifically…

The Under Armour Men’s Combat V Gloves are shown here. I think these are the best football gloves for you because they are both strong and easy to move.

The back of the Combat V has a grid of cushioning inserts made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Under Armour calls it Flexible Technology. The TPU is divided into sections so that the hand is protected but can still be used fully.

In the same way, I think Combat V looks cool because of the padding, which makes it look like something from the future.

Even though these football gloves don’t have the best grip, the palm area is pretty sticky. Sticky inlays on the fingers and palm give it great coverage and grip over a large part of the palm.

The palm of the Combat V has mesh and holes to help air flow, but there are better options further down the list if you need great breathability.

The NFHS, NCAA, and NOCSAE have all said that the Combat V gloves are good enough to compete with.

Last but not least, Under Armour Combat V are great if you want to be as free as possible on the field. The Flex Technology in these football gloves keeps them flexible, and they offer a lot of protection.

Pros

  • Very flexible yet highly protective.
  • Offer very solid grip.
  • Cool-looking design.
  • Great quality.

Cons

  • Might run small.
  • Has tacky material only on the fingertips and the base of the palm.

Scorch Destroyer’s back is mostly made of a mesh-like material that lets air through, so it can breathe well. There are also a few air holes in the palm of the glove to help it breathe.

Scorch Destroyer’s back, on the other hand, isn’t really cushioned. Scorch Destroyer doesn’t protect as well as, say, Cutters Force 3.0, but it’s good enough for most situations on the field.

Best Football Gloves For Linemen

Scorch Destroyer has a great grip and is made of a material that lets air through. Material called “Grip Tack” is used to cover the tips of the fingers and the top part of the palm. So, unlike with Force 3.0, you have a better hold on the ball with most of your hand.

The base of the palm is padded with 5 mm of foam for extra safety.

Scorch Destroyer is a great choice if you care more about breathability than protection.

Pros

  • Excellent protection.
  • Fairly decent ventilation.
  • Great quality.
  • Machine-washable.

Cons

  • Seem to run small.

The palm of the Freak Max football gloves has a feature that we like about the Scorch Destroyer.

Since they both have Grip Tack on most of the palm, the two adidas football gloves should be very similar in how well they grip.

Scorch Destroyer’s best feature, in my opinion, is that it lets air in, so I chose Freak Max as the best grip.

Freak Max is a great guard. Even though it doesn’t have as much padding as the Force 3.0, the back and fingertips are still very comfortable.

If you worry that Freak Max will make you too hot, the back of the glove has mesh panels to keep you cool.

The moisture-wicking layer on the inside of Freak Max gloves should also help keep your hands dry during the game.

Even though a lot of people like these gloves, I and others have found that the stitching often comes undone. You can always fix the stitching, so it’s not a big deal, but it’s still annoying.

Lastly, I think that adidas Freak Max is the best choice for people who want a shoe with good grip, good protection, and good air flow.

Pros

  • Offers plenty of padding.
  • Most of the palm is covered with a tacky material.
  • Looks really nice.
  • The wicking liner keeps hands dry.

Cons

  • Stitching quality could be better.

5. Barnett FLG-02 – Best Budget Option

  •  BREATHABLE VENTILATION: Light enough to keep…
  •  ADJUSTABLE FOR PERFECT FIT: The back-of-hand…
  •  ALL WEATHER: Football gloves are specially…

If you want a less expensive option, the Barnett FLG-2 glove is a good choice. Compared to the other gloves I recommend, these football gloves are on the cheaper end.

If you want to buy football gloves for less money, you’ll have to give up some quality and durability. But FLG-02 gloves might work if you don’t have much money or don’t want anything fancy.

The Barnett gloves aren’t too expensive, but they have enough back padding and good air flow. Not quite as good as the adidas Scorch Destroyer gloves, but still very good.

The Barnett gloves have a sticky material on the whole palm, so you can get a good grip no matter how you come at them. The mesh-like material on the palms also keeps the hands cool.

If you want a cheap pair of football gloves, the Barnett FLG-02 is a great choice. The quality of these football gloves isn’t the best, but they work well anyway.

My Buyer’s Guide For Football Lineman Gloves

Now I’ll talk about what you should look for in a good pair of football lineman gloves. This guide will help you figure out how to read the reviews and then choose the best football gloves for your needs.

Protection

First, you should think about safety.

Most people buy lineman gloves to make them safer, so this is the feature that needs the most attention.

The main type of protection that football lineman gloves offer is padding. Some common places are the fingers, the knuckles, and the palm of the hand. Since the palm has to stay sticky, it usually doesn’t have much padding and can’t take much of a hit.

It’s important to think about where the padding will offer the most protection. Whether or not your football glove gives you enough protection depends on how much padding it has.

The best gloves must have padding on the palm and fingers, but they should also protect the back of the hand. On the other hand, gloves with less padding are lighter and more flexible because they give up some protection.

Some football linemen also use gloves with only half of the fingers. In any case, I didn’t include any of them because I don’t think they protect linemen enough. After all, any safety net is good in football.

It’s up to you how much protection your lineman gloves give you. But if these are your first pair of gloves, you should choose something stronger. Then you can try a different pair if the gloves are too heavy or tight.

Because it offers the best protection, the Cutters Lineman Force 3.0 is my top choice for lineman gloves. Extra padding protects the backs of the palm and fingers.

Grip

The next step is the grasp.

Lineman gloves have a sticky material sewn into the palm to make them easier to hold. With this material’s better grip, it will be easier for you to grab your opponent or the ball.

The area where your hand goes can be different in size and shape from one glove to the next. When it comes to grip, football gloves can be very different.

Some have a better surface area all the way across the palm, while others feel more sticky at the fingers.

Best Football Gloves For Linemen

The better the grip, the more surface area there is to hold on to. Look closely at the palm of the glove to figure out how big the surface area is.

Sticky things are usually shiny or have a different feel than the rest of the palm, which makes them easier to find.

Covering and grip strength can be different in different ways. You can’t really tell how well a glove grips without using it. So, if you want the best grip, you might have to go through more than one pair.

I think the best choice is the adidas Freak Max glove because it has the best grip. It seems to be quite sticky and gives a very good grip all over the palm.

Breathabilit

Ventilation is a big deal when it comes to football lineman gloves.

Any good lineman glove should have some way for air to get in and out. From the ratings, you may have guessed that not all gloves are the same when it comes to how well they let air in.

Check the gloves again, but this time pay close attention to the ones with mesh in the palms and fingers.

Keep in mind that it’s not always clear how gloves balance protection and breathability.
When choosing football gear, I think linemen should put safety before breathability, but in the end, you should choose what makes you feel the most comfortable.

The adidas Scorch Destroyer has the most airflow out of all the shoes we looked at, according to our research.

It has a large area of its breathable Lycra back panel showing. Remember that this type of foobtall gloves doesn’t offer as much protection as some of the others.

Mobility

Mobility is also an important thing to think about. Any glove will make it harder to move your fingers, but some gloves will make it harder than others.

Most of the time, the more padding a glove has, the less you’ll be able to move. The Under Armour Men’s Combat V, on the other hand, challenges this idea with its sectioned cushioning that gives enough back support without limiting the model’s mobility.

Quality

Step two: think about how good it is. A glove of better quality will last longer and hold up better under stress. Check the seams and Velcro on your lineman gloves very carefully.

A big problem with buying things online is that it’s hard to tell how good they are. I suggest that you read customer reviews instead, because this is where you’ll find out if there are any problems with the quality of the gloves.

As a general rule, the quality of construction is better in gloves that cost more. So, the price of a glove is a good indicator of how well it works. Even expensive gloves can be made wrong, so it’s important to read what other people have to say about them.

The gloves on our list are all of a good enough quality. But if quality is the most important thing to you, think about these four options:

  • Under Armour Men’s Combat V.
  • Cutters Lineman Force 3.0.
  • adidas Scorch Destroyer.
  • adidas Freak Max.

Even though these lineman gloves are very durable, the stitching may come undone very rarely.

You shouldn’t expect the Barnett FLG-02 to have the same level of quality as more expensive models.

Think about the other things I’ve listed to figure out which gloves are best for you.

Size & Fit

Pay close attention to how it fits and how big it is.

When you are shopping for lineman gloves, size guides from the manufacturer can help you choose the right size.

Size charts aren’t always accurate, so it’s important to keep that in mind. You may also have trouble finding the right size if your hands are unusually big or small.

I usually read all of the customer reviews carefully to see if anyone has said that the item doesn’t fit right. I usually change the size based on how many people complain about how small or big it is.

Frequently Asked Questions

And now, to help you learn more about lineman gloves and what you can expect from them, I’ll answer a number of questions that people often ask.

Do Football Linemen Wear Gloves?

Most linemen in football do wear gloves when they play the game. Gloves are very useful on the field and are highly recommended.

What Are Lineman Gloves For?

In football, a lineman’s gloves are mostly used for two things:

They protect the user’s hands in case they fall or hit something else by accident.
They make it easier to keep a hold on your opponents by making it easier to hold on to yourself.

What Is The Difference Between Lineman Gloves And Receiver Gloves?

When comparing lineman gloves and receiver gloves, here are two key differences:

  • Grip. Receiver gloves are much grippier than lineman gloves. This is because the primary goal of a receiver is to catch and hold onto the ball. The more grip you have, the better you will be able to perform this task.
  • Protection. On the other hand, lineman gloves have much thicker protection. In fact, lineman gloves are the bulkiest of all football gloves. This is because linemen have to endure plenty of impact on the field, so every bit of extra protection is important.

What Are The Best Lineman Gloves?

What you want to do here is what makes the difference. But here’s a quick rundown of my suggestions:

  • If you need flexible gloves, get the Under Armour Men’s Combat V.
  • Use something like Cutters Lineman Force 3.0 if you care about your safety.
  • When you wear the adidas Scorch Destroyer, your hands will stay cool. Also, these gloves grip well.
  • Adidas Freak Max if you want tacky shoes that don’t let your feet breathe.
  • arnett FLG-02 if you want something that doesn’t cost too much.

4th & 10

So, we now know that linemen need gloves that protect their hands because they get hit a lot on the field. Bruises and wounds are a major concern since they might interfere with your play due to discomfort and fear of future harm.

Well, if you have a good pair of gloves, you can reduce the risk of getting hurt during the game by a lot.

Now, I’d also want to hear your views! If you have any experience with the gloves I mentioned, please tell us about it in the comments section. Also, as usual, feel free to ask questions in the comments; I’ll be happy to answer!
